About the Role
The Lead Data Engineer will be responsible for architecting and delivering modern, scalable Azure-based data platforms that enable reliable, high-performance, and cost-efficient data solutions for AYBI and its clients. This role ensures seamless integration of diverse data sources, drives engineering excellence through best practices in CI/CD and DataOps, and sets architectural standards that support long-term growth and innovation.
Responsibilities you are looking for
Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery of Azure data platforms, including Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake Gen2, Snowflake, ADF, and Azure SQL.
Lead and execute complex data platform migrations (e.g., on-prem Azure) ensuring reliability, performance, compliance, and cost efficiency.
Architect and integrate multiple data sources (APIs, databases, SaaS systems, files, streaming sources) into unified, scalable data platforms.
Define and maintain architectural standards and reusable patterns for data platforms, pipelines, modeling, governance, and engineering best practices across projects.
Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data models (medallion, lakehouse, Kimball) across Databricks, Synapse, and ADF.
Drive engineering excellence through CI/CD, DevOps/DataOps, automated testing, monitoring, and robust data quality frameworks
Provide hands-on technical leadership, contributing to code, guiding design decisions, and mentoring engineers across cloud data technologies.
Collaborate with clients, POs, PMs, Analysts, and BI Consultants to shape requirements, communicate technical outcomes in business terms, and identify opportunities for improvement and value creation.

Job requirements
10+ years of data engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a technical lead role.
Track record of leading projects end-to-end from requirements gathering through to solution delivery and deployment.
Expertise across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including (ADF, Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake, Power BI).
Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as Azure.
Proficient in SQL and Python ,people may even call you a genius with it.
Expertise in architecting and leading the implementation of cloud-native data warehouse solutions.
Hands-on experience across the end-to-end data lifecycle: from modeling to pipelines, reporting, and governance.
Strong communication skills to share insights with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Recruiter Interview (45 min)
The recruiter assesses candidate’s motivation, ways of working, communication, interpersonal skills, job fit, and role clarity. Candidates who demonstrate strong alignment and fit during the recruiter interview are invited to complete the home assignment.
2. Home Assignment + Technical Interview (1 hour)
The technical interview is evaluated by 2 of our experts, who then assesses candidate’s technical capabilities and problem-solving skills, during the live home assignment review. The candidate presents their solution, explains their approach, and answers scenario-based questions. Topics typically include architecture design, data modeling, pipelines, tooling choices, performance, cost considerations, scalability, governance, and quality practices.
3.Cultural Interview (1 hour)
The cultural interview is assessed by 2 BI consultants who examines how candidates demonstrate AYBI’s values in real situations e.g. working with stakeholders, projects, and collaborating with colleagues, and how well you would operate within AYBI’s holacracy operating system.
4.Leadership / Co-Founder Interview (45 mins)
In this stage, leaders conducts an interview with you to understand how your work competencies, capabilities and values fit with AYBI’s culture, and core values.
